HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

There is some exciting news and I finally get to spill the beans and tell you all about it! This is something that has been on my mind and heart for quite sometime and it's finally here! I'm so happy to announce that One Sweet Day in May will be offering event design and planning packages to its services and I thought I'd write this blog post to break it all down! 

WHAT IS CHANGING?

To be quite honest? Not a lot is changing. One Sweet Day in May is still first and foremost a floral design boutique. Planning is an addition to our services and will not take the place of floral design! I'm thrilled to officially offer two planning packages. The first is Event Design and Full Planning and the second is Coordination. Floral Design will be a separate service. This addition of One Sweet Day in May is a small one, but it feels like the natural progression of this business. Check out all the info here! 

WHY IS IT CHANGING? 

When I first made One Sweet Day in May into a business I wanted to be a dual floral design/event planner. At that time however, I thought if I took on both, I would be mediocre at both and I would be biting off more than I could chew. The decision to finally add planning took a lot of thought and advice from fellow industry colleagues. I still have a lot more to knowledge to gain about floral design and I'll never stop learning better and new techniques and mechanics, but I'm ready for this next chapter. In the past year and a half working with brides on their florals, I've found that I've been longing to be involved in everything regarding their weddings and at times have had to remind myself to stay in my floral world with them. Nothing is better than the feeling of a well planned celebration and I'm over the moon excited to be adding to my services. Though just floral weddings will still remain the largest part of OSDIM, I'm excited to give this part of my creative brain a chance. You'll still see all the floral goodness over on Instagram. Nothing has changed there. Just now you'll see more event design like beautiful linens, custom invitation designs, and fun installations!  Hooray!

WHEN IS IT CHANGING? 

It all starts now friends! I'm so excited to have my first event design and full planning bride with a wedding date of next April! This is going to be one gorgeous event! Think enchanted garden with classic touches. A BHLDN gown will be involved and the bride is longing for an oblong shaped bouquet (filled with peonies!) that gives the effect of flowers cascading down her arm when she holds it EEEK!  My hope is to add 2-3 more planning weddings for 2016 to allow myself to still be intentional with all my brides. I'm so excited to finally let the cat out of the bag. Excuse me while I go do a happy dance for the rest of the day!

ONE SWEET FRIDAYS

Happy Friday from The Schmidt Pad! I actually kinda sorta took the day off today. Besides a few emails here and there and planning a little for next week, today is being spent with Chris and the pups for somewhat of a family day. We're entering the beginning of the slower season and I for one cannot wait to spend the next 5 months being intentional with my business and loving on my 2016 brides.

The past few months I've been focusing a lot on the future. The future of my business, the future of my family, and the future of me as a women. I write this today because my priorities have shifted a bit recently and it got me thinking about other creatives. We're all so different and we all have unique situations. Comparing is so hard not to do in our industry and it leaves you feeling discouraged at times and makes you doubt yourself. I'm here to say that whatever the situation you and your family may be in, whether you are full time in your business (That's amazing!), working a 9-5 trying to make your business full-time (You go girl!), or your small business is on the side and you have no intentions of turning it into your sole income provider, that is ok! No matter what season of life your business is in, taking the leap and creating something from your passion is amazing whether it's your full time job or on the side. We're all boss ladies, but that phrase means something different to all of us and we shouldn't doubt what we're doing just because it seems others are doing bigger and better things. There is a great video from Marie Forleo-who if you don't follow along with, you're missing out. The video which you can find here is about how to deal with insecurity and self doubt and I found it so helpful. So be sure to check it out! Here's to doing things that bring you joy and passion no matter what that means to you. Here's to wearing the million different hats that some of us wear and pulling it off. Keep doing what is best for you. Don't let anyone make you doubt yourself.

BREE AND KEITH

Today we're doing a little throwback Thursday and rewinding it all the way back to July to the coast of Rhode Island for my best friend's vow renewal. This renewal holds such a dear special place in my heart and I know you'll love these photos from Annmarie Swift Photography as much as I do.

During the past couple of years, the meaning of friendship has shifted a bit for me and Bree has played a huge role in my different mindset. Bree doesn't have it easy. She is in a dual military marriage where her and Keith are stationed 4 hours apart with an 8 month old baby. Along with Keith's month-at-a-time underway missions, he's gearing up for a 9 month deployment starting in November. Despite her sacrifices and all she goes through, Bree is the greatest of friends. In these current days where technology has become the preferred method for communication, Bree still picks up the phone and keeps me updated with her military life in Ft. Bragg. If something is bothering me or I had a bad day, she's the first person I call and she lets me go on and on and get all my frustrations out. Even though her frustrations usually trump mine, she never cuts me short or tells me she's too busy. We only see each other about once a month for a quick weekend, but she's still very much part of my daily life. Not to mention she is the best mother to little Noah. Bree is so inspiring to me and Chris and I were so happy to take part in their special vow renewal. Love you, Bree!
